The British High Commission has unveiled plans to enhance educational opportunities for children from low-income households in South West Nigeria.
This was disclosed during the launch of the Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) programme in collaboration with the DAWN Commission and the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in Lagos.
Deputy British High Commissioner Mr Jonny Baxter explained that the PLANE programme seeks to improve learning outcomes in the region by expanding access to quality and affordable basic education.
Senior Education Adviser to the British High Commission, Ian Attfield, emphasised that the programme would focus on engaging affordable private community schools to provide education for marginalised children and families in need.

Lagos State’s Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, represented by Permanent Secretary Mr Abayomi Abolaji, affirmed the state’s commitment to supporting the initiative.
Dr Seye Oyeleye, Director General of the DAWN Commission, represented by Head of Programmes, Abiodun Oladipo, expressed gratitude to the British High Commission for its efforts in expanding access to education for children in the South West zone.
