The Lagos State Police Command, on Thursday, averted a mob attack on drivers and passengers on board over 22 government commercial buses also known as BRT along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway over the death of a commercial motorcyclist.

The yet-to-be-identified commercial motorcycle rider was crushed to death by a BRT bus at Cement Bus Stop, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Wednesday evening.

The deceased was said to have lost control while riding on the BRT corridor and had a head-on collision with one of the buses.

The incident created heavy tension along the Lagos – Abeokuta expressway as the Okada riders staged an attack on other BRT buses plying the same route.

The situation forced the management of BRT to quickly recall the drivers to their bus terminal at Oshodi.

The riders regrouped on Thursday evening and attempted to destroy all BRT buses parked at the terminal at Oshodi but for the timely arrival of the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Olayinka Egbeyemi, and his team.

The police team quickly evacuated 22 buses from the area, while the riders pelted the policemen with sachet water and pebbles.
