The Business School Netherlands (BSN) Nigeria has introduced three Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives as a way of acknowledging public acceptability.
Speaking in Lagos, BSN Nigeria Chief Executive, Lere Baale said the introduction of the CSR initiatives was also geared towards marking the milestones of enrolling 1,000 students since inception and the introduction of the Doctorate degree in Business Administration (DBA) courses.
According to Baale, BSN Nigeria realises that CSR had gone beyond mere tokenism to genuine corporate efforts and as such, its collaboration with Howes Consulting Group to introduce pro-unemployed and pro-leaders initiatives.
He said, “Informed by an estimated over 50 million unemployed and underemployed youths in Nigeria, we decided to introduce a Youth Leadership Academy that will form a consortium of volunteers and partners to invest in youth employability skills for accelerated career growth and empower unemployed youths and deepen their interest in self and joint ownership
enterprises.
“We are also introducing Leadership Legacy Award aimed at identifying and recognising distinguished leaders across various sectors who have demonstrated exemplary ethical leadership and positively accelerating growth in various sectors in Africa.
“Our third CSR initiative will be focusing on supporting business leaders in Africa on succession plans. We realised that many CEOs are often too busy that they unintentionally don’t put succession plans in place. But in partnership with Howes Consulting Group, BSN will undertake the dynamic of succession planning as our own way of giving back to African society.”
 He added, “The executive MBA programme is seen as the pinnacle of all business administration qualifications. It is our mission to offer the DBA to senior professoinals, chief executive officers, directors and senior managers in order for them to experience professional advancement, develop research skills and a scientific attitude through the encouragement of original research at doctorate level whilst adding new theory and/or findings to the existing body of knowledge in business administration.
 “DBA Candidates of BSN would spend a minimum of four years, focusing on developing a scientific attitude, rather than merely completing a research project. Application of research methods within a theoretical framework is a skill that will serve professionals throughout their career.”
