Buddy Group of Schools have emerged champions of the 2025 Annual Secondary Schools Football Tournament organized by the Uromi Like Minds Initiative (ULMI), in Esan North-East Local Government of Edo State.

Buddy Group of Schools defeated the defending champions of the tournament Agba Grammar School, 4–1 on penalties following a 1–1 draw in regulation time.

Beyond the tournament, ULMI also honoured 10 long-serving teachers for their years of dedicated service and their impact on the academic and moral upbringing of students across the local government area.

Speaking during the event, ULMI Executive Chairman, Mr Darlington Okpebholo Ray, described the competition as a legacy initiative aimed at youth empowerment, talent discovery, unity and character development.

Represented by ULMI’s Welfare Committee, Chairman, Mr Sylvester Ezehi, he urged the students to uphold sportsmanship at all times.

According to him, humility in victory and dignity in defeat were essential values that extended beyond football.

On his part, ULMI’s Financial Secretary, Mr. Henry Unuane, commended the participating schools for their discipline and competitive spirit.

He described the tournament as a vital platform for nurturing young talents.

Unuane called on successive leaders of ULMI to sustain the competition for the benefit of future generations.
