While supporters of Atiku Abubakar strongly belief that their candidate is the only one that can defeat President Goodluck Jonathan considering his political prowess especially his opposition to Obasanjo’s tenure  elongation and his eleven times victory at the courts which  earned him nationwide popularity as a true democrat and a credible candidate, those in support of General Muhammadu Buhari on the other hand considered his impeccable records as an incorruptible leader with credible qualities of high moral integrity and love to salvage the Nigerian people from deprivation and injustice, those in support of Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwoso of Kano saw him as a young vibrant and fearless person who approach issues based on righteousness particularly the appointment of former CBN Governor Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano against the interest of President Goodluck Jonathan which earn him nationwide popularity.
This came right in the heel of Sheik Ahmad Muhammad Gumi that both Buhari and Jonathan should not contest the 2015 Presidential election in the interest of peace and tranquility in the country, a statement which most observers considered as tantamount to infringing their fundamental human rights as guaranteed in the 1999 Cons-titution
However putting the three candidates in one class, one can see that it is true both General Buhari and Atiku are by far older than Kwankwoso but it is equally true that the two are more experienced in Governmental affairs nationally and Internationally than Rabi’u Musa Kwankwoso whose expe-rience is restricted to Kano Governorship only.
Analytically however both Atiku Abubakar and Rabi’u Musa Kwankwoso defected from the PDP to the APC less than a year ago while General Muhammadu Buhari on the other hand have always remained in the opposition party. General Buhari, for the avoidance of doubt, left the defunct ANPP and form the CPC when some element made it virtually impossible for him to stand and face the PDP and to his credit he scored over 12 million votes to emerge second during the 2011 Presidential election just barely 6 month of the existence of the CPC.
Political analysts are of the view that since the PDP failed to get their “people” to control the APC machinery at the national level they were said to have come up with a grand new design by publically be in confrontational posture with some of their members so as to defect to the APC and vy for the 2015 presidency so as to hold the party down for President Goodluck Jonathan to sail through smoothly.
Otherwise, the analysts opined how do you explain the impeachment of the Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako out of office for leaving the PDP and joining the APC or the treatment mated out to River State Governor Chief Rotmi Amaechi and his Assembly members for defecting from PDP to APC and the arrest of the two sons of the Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido for alleged 2 billion naira fraud for simply indicating he was going to join the APC and yet such treatment were not mated out to Atiku and Rabi’u Musa Kwankwoso. The Question now is WHY?
The probable answer the analyst said may not be unconnected with the General fear that if Buhari win the 2015 Presidential election he will clean sweep all criminals into prison and confiscate all their ill-gotten wealth back into the government coffers and that because of this such immutable forces are hell bent to frustrate his 2015 Presidential ambition based on age and the three times loss of his Presidential ambition.
These forces the analysts said are either agents of corruption or practicing corruption or are corrupt themselves which saw Nigeria’s low developmental efforts since 1999 to date. Therefore putting all the cards face up the analysts are of the view that Atiku Abubakar may not win the 2015 presidential election because of his narrow followership compared to General Buhari and Rabi’u Musa Kwankwoso is considered to be too tender for the job who needs proper grooming and be handy for national leadership in the future election.
Moreover, General Buhari said he is contesting the 2015 election for others to contest and win to help him in implementing his people oriented program. This is a rear quality which the other two are yet to exibit because Buhari’s concern is to groom good leadership for the country for future eletions.
With General Muhammadu Buhari standing out as the favorite nationwide the analysts are of the opinion that if the River State Governor Rotimi Amechi is tipped as Buhari’s running mate and the Lagos State Governor Raji Babatunde Fashola is made to be the Senate President the APC will send the PDP and its Presidential candidate packing out of the Aso Rock for Nigerians to witness a new era of good governance.
Finally what could be more irritating for the PDP is the recent decampment of the speaker of the Federal House of Representative Aminu Tambuwal from PDP to APC which many said marks the beginning of the shrinking of the PDP membership in the National Assembly. However the APC leadership should work as a team with one major objective in mind and that is to wrest power from the hands of the PDP come 2015. They should therefore put all political ambitions and bickering aside and work together towards improving the quality of life of our good people.
