The Chief Whip of the Senate and Senator representing Borno North Senatorial District, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, has joined millions of Nigerians in mourning the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his transition as “the end of an era and the loss of a father to the North.”

In his tribute, the Borno North Senator described Buhari as a national icon whose leadership embodied humility, moral uprightness, and a quiet but firm dedication to service.

“Baba Buhari was a rare Nigerian leader — a man who did not steal, did not shout, and never lost sight of why he was in office. He ruled with the fear of Allah and placed the country above personal interest,” Monguno said.

Reflecting on Buhari’s impact on Borno and the wider North-East, Monguno praised the late President’s security initiatives and support for rebuilding the region after years of insurgency.

“When we were forgotten, Baba remembered us. When others played politics with our pain, he acted. He gave us roads, support, and hope,” the Senator noted.

Senator Monguno also emphasized Buhari’s legacy in national governance, particularly his refusal to enrich himself, his loyalty to the constitution, and his quiet lifestyle even in the corridors of power.

“President Buhari will remain a reference point for simplicity, discipline, and courage. His legacy is not in buildings or monuments, but in the integrity he brought to public office,” he said.

He prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his sacrifices with the highest place in Aljannah Firdaus.
