The deaths of former President Muhammadu Buhari and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Olalere Owolabi Olakulehin, have continued to draw tributes from Nigerians at home and abroad, with many describing the losses as a major blow to the nation’s leadership and traditional institutions.

Joining the long list of mourners, the Iya Oba of Isin Land and in the Diaspora, High Chief Mrs Olayinka Latinwo, said both men represented timeless values of public service, dignity, and cultural integrity that are fast fading in today’s society.

In a condolence message personally signed and made available to journalists, the diasporan said the late President Buhari was a symbol of discipline and national commitment whose leadership inspired millions.

“President Muhammadu Buhari dedicated his life to serving Nigeria with sincerity and strength. From his time as a military leader to his role as a democratically elected President, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of national unity, anti-corruption reforms, and good governance,” she said.

She prayed for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal peace, while also asking God to comfort his family, the government, and all Nigerians mourning his loss.

Commenting on the passing of the Olubadan, Oba Akinloye Olakulehin, Latinwo, a descendant of the Moronfolu family in Ibadan, described the late monarch as a custodian of tradition who brought grace and calm to the throne during his short reign.

She noted that Oba Olakulehin’s ascension marked one of the most peaceful transitions in Ibadan’s royal history adding that his leadership drew from a rich legacy as a retired military officer, industrialist, and former lawmaker.

“His one-year reign was filled with peace and dignity. He embodied a perfect blend of modern understanding and traditional authority, which earned him the respect of his people and beyond,” she said.

Latinwo extended her sympathies to the Olubadan-in-Council, the government of Oyo State, and the people of Ibadanland, praying for strength to bear the loss and the continued preservation of the cultural values Oba Olakulehin upheld.

“May Almighty Allah grant both departed leaders Al-Jannatul Firdaus and guide those left behind to uphold their enduring legacies,” she added.
