A former national chairman of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Vincent Ogbulafor, is dead.

Family sources said Ogbulafor died on Thursday in Canada at the age of 73.

He was said to have died from an undisclosed ailment as he passed on peacefully on Thursday night in Canada.

Ogbulafor is from Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.

He was the national secretary of the PDP before he became the party’s national chairman.

He was forced to resign as PDP’s national chairman, just like many others, after falling out with some powerful stakeholders in the party.

 Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the family of Chief Ogbulafor over his demise.

In a statement by his spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu on Saturday in Abuja, Buhari commiserated with leaders and members of the PDP, the Olokoro Royal family in Umuahia, government and people of Abia over the loss of the former party chieftain.

The president stated that Ogbulafor would be remembered for his role in the country’s democratic growth.

Also, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, yesterday expressed grief over the death of Ogbulafor.

Ortom’s spokesman, Nathaniel Ikyur, said Ogbulafor was a true party man who was fair and firm to all.

 Similarly, Senate Chief Whip Orji Kalu, expressed sadness over the death of Ogbulafor, saying he contributed to the growth and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria, having served in various capacities in the political space.
