Buhari passionate about completion of Onitsha-Enugu expressway – Fashola

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Friday told the people of Anambra-State that president Muhammadu Buhari attaches much importance to Umunya axis of the Onitsha/Enugu  Expressway.

The Minister  disclosed this while inspecting the Umunya-Onitsha- Enugu expressway  ongoing construction work.

Fashola represented by the Director Highways of his ministry,  Yemi Oguntumiyi  stated that the president was passionate about the completion of the road and other projects in South East on scheduled.

He said “President Buhari attaches  importance to this road.“

“It’s a critical project not only for the South East but the entire country; that is why the President wants it completed on schedule.”

“The contractor has been mobilised and the equipment is on site, we are optimistic that the work would be completed as planned.” I’m satisfied with the progress and quality of work done so far” he said.He also assured the people of the area that the project would be completed on scheduled.“

Oguntumiyi said,”When the minister visited this project,  the contractor assured him that the work would reasonably be done before the rainy season . That is why we are here today to see how far he has gone”.

Also speaking, the  Federal controller of works, in Anambra State, Adeyemo Ajani  said four kilometres out of 18km of the road had been completed.

Meanwhile, while Fashola was inspecting the road on Friday, the people and leaders of the area trooped out enmasse to welcome him and thanked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government for his kind gesture to them.
