Against this background, Jonathan and the PDP by every passage of the day are becoming more and more fearful of losing the election. But most worrisome is the level the PDP is taking its campaign. As things stands, it appears there is nothing on this surface of the earth which Jonathan and the PDP cannot compromise or sacrifice to remain in power. Or else how on earth does a secondary school certificate of General Buhari become an issue to the level of trying to compromise the military which happens to be among the topmost symbol of our unity as a nation?
Part IV, section 318 of our constitution is very explicit about qualification of political office seekers in Nigeria, so why the fuss about Buhari qualifications. From all angles we look at it, Buhari is eminently qualified to contest for the office of the President of this country.
In the course of Jonathan and the PDP campaigns we also heard of ‘Buhari doesn’t know his cell phone number’ others are also saying ‘Buhari cannot click a computer’ etc. May be in weeks to come, we would be told that ‘Buhari doesn’t know his name or his street name.’ These are indeed becoming possibilities given the level to which PDP campaigns is going.
Lest we forget, there is also the issue of dead wish advert on Buhari. Indeed all these however, point to one thing:  Jonathan and the PDP are running short of what to tell the people to vote the PDP in the next month general election, in view of their glaring failure to address issues of insecurity, unemployment, corruption and outright theft of the nation’s oil as well as wanton destruction of Nigerian economy in the last six years.
The resort to all these pettiness by the PDP therefore is not anything surprising. But men and women of goodwill in and outside the country must rise up to ensure total compliance to Abuja Accord. The way and manner Jonathan and the PDP are taking their campaigns are down too personal which are entirely against the accord which both candidates are signatories to.
Buhari’s availability or non availability of secondary school certificate should be left entirely to the Judiciary to determine. Anything short of this will be a confirmation of the alleged plans to truncate the nation’s democratic process by Jonathan and the PDP. Now that Buhari’s former school have released his results to the public any one in doubt should go to court.
It would be recalled that recently same campaign of calumny by the PDP in Nasarawa state also played out when they kept circulating the rumour that Governor Tanko Al-Makura died of kidney complications abroad. Some even said he was on board the ill-fated AirAsia which crash at Karimata Strait, South-West Indonesia. Despite the denial, the rumour persisted until the man in the eye of the storm returned to Nigeria to a tumultuous welcome by the people of Nasarawa State.
However no one will require the services of soothsayer to know that the days of PDP are numbered. Their attempt to hide under the toga of religion to confuse the Christian electorates to vote for the PDP got bursted by the revelations of renowned Enugu based Catholic priest, Rev, Father Camillus Ejike Mbaka at the end of –year mass held at the Adoration Ground, Emene Enugu when he exposed all the lies of Jonathan and the PDP. The Rev. Mbaka’s exposure which was widely publicized by the media was enough to convince any doubting Thomases about the antics of the Jonathan and the PDP.
Again same attempt by the PDP to use the Tijjaniya sect also foiled by the disowning of support for Jonathan by the leader of this Islamic sect in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi following an advertorial which portrayed the sect as supporting Jonathan. Going by the crowd that welcome Buhari in every of the state visited by his campaign train, one is safe to say that Jonathan and the PDP have already lost out, hence the desperation to tarnish the good image of Buhari and the APC by the PDP.
It is glaring that Over 80% of the voting populations in Nigeria have already made up their minds on the candidates to go for in the next month general elections. And without been told, the APC will sweep the polls in view of the glaring failure of Jonathan and the PDP to meet up with the expectations of the people of Nigeria. And there is no amount of propaganda or brainwashing or character assassination against Buhari and the APC that would make the people of Nigeria to change their minds now. Of course, Buhari signifies many things to many people. To the tiny few in the PDP, Buhari represents danger to their vested interest while to the majority of the people of Nigeria, irrespective of age, creed and the political affiliations, Buhari represents hope.
