Former permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Macjohn Nwaobiala, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint a visionary person as education minister.
He said having a visionary leader as minister was one way of transforming the sector.
Nwaobiala also told Daily Trust that governors must appoint commissioners that are diligent.
He said: “We have good education policies and we have beautiful programmes but if the leadership is not there, you can’t make any head way.”
The permanent secretary, who retired from active service few weeks ago, said the incoming minister should ensure that the issues of access and quality education are given prominence.
