I must begin by applauding the ongoing administration under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for the war against corruption in the country. It is very true that corruption is killing us (Nigerians) more than HIV/AIDS, Ebola, Tuberculosis, Cancer, Malaria, and other deadly diseases. Therefore, something must be done to exterminate corruption before it swallows the entire nation.
However, something urgent must also be done to address other problems bedeviling the country. I was one of those who campaigned and voted for change in the last general elections, and I will not keep quiet when the expected change is not being felt. It is true and good that the president is fighting corruption but that does not mean there should be “stand still” in other areas of public interest.
As I am writing now, there is hunger everywhere in the country even in Benue State, that is the food basket of the nation. There is also poverty, unemployment, bad roads and so on due to delay in passage of the national budget. Something urgent must be done to address these problems.
