President Muhammadu Buhari has identified education as the most potent weapon for injecting hope in the youth and to negotiate a better quality of life for the people.

Buhari, who is a visitor to the University of Lagos, in his address at the 52nd convocation ceremony of the university, maintained that Nigerians must change their attitude towards education to achieve the genuine change and progress desired for the country.

The president, who was represented by the deputy executive secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Dr Chris Mayaki, said that tackling the numerous challenges facing Nigeria required different but fresh perspectives anchored on innovative approaches to education delivery throughout the country.

He, however, stressed the need for universities in Nigeria to take the lead in opening the minds of the people to the emerging scenarios and equipping them to meet the challenges posed by the changes.

Buhari encouraged the graduands to be useful to their fatherland by providing solutions to the challenges confronting mankind and the country.

The university, at the 52nd convocation ceremony, graduated 12,217 students for the 2019/2020 academic session. Out of the number, 7,799 received first degrees or diplomas, while 4,418 bagged postgraduate degrees.
