With a heart filled with deep sorrow and immense respect, I write this tribute in honour of a true patriot, a soldier-statesman, and an honest leader—former President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari was not just a leader; he was a symbol of discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the Nigerian cause. In a time when many shied away from the burden of national service, he stood tall and served Nigeria with all his might—first as a young military officer, then as Head of State, and decades later as a democratically elected President.

In all the years I observed him—first from afar as a student of history, and later as a participant in the political space—I remained deeply inspired by his personal values. His simplicity, his modesty, and above all, his honesty, stood as a moral compass in the often chaotic waters of Nigerian politics. He lived a life of service, devoid of personal aggrandisement, and never allowed power to consume his humility.

President Buhari gave his best to this nation. He carried the weight of our collective dreams and hopes on his shoulders. In difficult times, he offered calm leadership. In moments of crisis, he urged for unity. He believed in Nigeria and in the strength of its people. He believed that the future of our country depended on discipline, transparency, and selfless service.

His commitment to fighting corruption was not just policy—it was personal. He bore the burden of national expectations with stoic courage, and even in retirement, his presence commanded respect, and his words carried wisdom.

For us in Kano and across the North, President Buhari was not only a President. He was a father figure—firm but fair, principled yet understanding. He touched millions of lives through his policies and interventions, especially the poor and vulnerable who felt the strength of his compassion in the social investment programmes, agricultural support, and youth empowerment initiatives.

I extend my deepest condolences to his beloved family, the government and people of Nigeria, and indeed to all who believed in his vision for a greater Nigeria. May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.

Nigeria has lost a great son. But we take solace in knowing that his legacy of honesty, patriotism, and service will continue to guide us.

May Allah (SWT) bless the soul of President Muhammadu Buhari.
