Former President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated his friend and course mate in the military, Major General Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, over his victory in the Gwandu Emirship tussle.
Buhari who described the Supreme Court ruling as a “stunning victory” after a twenty-year battle for the throne against the deposed emir, Major Haruna Jokolo (rtd), asked his friend to do more for the betterment of his people.
The former president in a telephone call from London where he is at the moment, expressed “his heartiest congratulations to the emir”, urging him to do more to build on the successes and achievements he had attained.
Buhari told his course mate that even with the challenging distraction from the prolonged litigation, he should not be distracted.
“You have always worked for the betterment of your people and the nation, even under those circumstances.
“I hope you will continue to promote peace, happiness, and prosperity of the people in Gwandu Emirate and beyond,” said the former president.
“I thank Allah for this victory and pray for your long life and good health,” he told Emir Muhammadu Ilyasu.
