Buhari wins ADC guber ticket in Borno

Babagana Mamman Buhari has emerged as the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial ticket for the 2027 elections in Borno State.
The returning officer for the exercise, Mai Adamu Mustapha, declared him the winner at the end of the collation of results from the state’s 27 local government areas (LGAs).
According to the results, Buhari polled 71,867 votes to secure the highest count, defeating Attom Mohammed Magira, who got 2,033 votes, and Sanusi Kashim Ibrahim, who polled 1,033 votes.
“I hereby declare Babagana Buhari, who polled 71,867 votes, the winner of the Borno State ADC Gubernatorial Direct Primary election,” the returning officer stated.
He noted that the three contestants shared the votes from the 74,933 valid votes cast by 85,567 accredited voters, drawn from a total of 102,900 registered voters.
Having clinched the ADC ticket, Buhari—who is relatively new to the Borno political landscape—will face Engr. Mustapha Gubio, the candidate of the ruling APC, in the 2027 general election.
