Minutes after President Muhammadu Buhari handed out portfolios for his newly minted cabinet of ministers, Nigerians have turned attention to which ministers have got the most challenging job.
By far Babtunde Fashola, named minister for power, works and housing, is considered to have landed the toughest job, considering Nigeria’s bittersweet romance with electricity.
A former governor of Lagos, Fashola presided over the state’s venture into independent power supply, and subsequent vacuuming internally generated revenue that came flowing.
Paul Oseiza tweeted, "Fashola got the most challenging because he has almost the entire country in his hands."
Ibrahim Auyo called Fashola the "president after Buhari."
Kofoworola Ayodeji said power, works and housing are "three giant ministries on their own, and combining them is a big task" for Fashola.
"The complexity of the three ministries turned one and the need for urgent provision of infrastructure," replied Wasiu Olayemi to the question "which ministers had the most challenging job".
Kayode Fayemi’s headship of solid minerals ministry is also set to be challenging because "diversification of the economy is a major focal point of this administration and more pressing dueto oil prices slump," said one tweeter.
Fayemi would have to work his **** off to get the moribund solid minerals sector to create millions of jobs."
The challenge of the new justice minister is linked to the "current issue of corruption in the country," said Abdulkarim Adamu.
Adamu Adamu, a Daily Trust columnist, might have a most challenging task overseeing the education ministry, respondents to the question say.
