Buhari’s second term will guarantee development

The 2019 general elections are around the corner and Nigerians are warming up to elect new leaders who will steer the affairs of the country for another four years.

President Muhammadu Buhari, having won his party’s primary election will fly its ticket. The president, who is seeking re-election, will face many other candidates fielded by their respective parties. If the performance of President Buhari will be used as a basis or criteria for re-election, he would win the election by a wide margin. In the last three and half years, he has achieved a lot in all aspects of human endeavour. In 2015, after he won the general election, he was faced with many challenges. The price of crude oil crashed, a development which affected the nation’s earnings badly. Notwithstanding, the federal government did its best to ensure that the masses do not suffer too much.  Also, when Buhari assumed office in 2015, some local governments in Borno State were under the control of the Boko Haram group. The government did not only liberate those local governments from the grip of group but also degraded the terrorists. The government also came up with some intervention policies like the school feeding program. The N-Power is another program designed to assist unemployed graduates. Under the scheme, millions of unemployed youths were taken off the labour market. These youths are posted to different ministries and government agencies to work.  This effort has reduced poverty and stimulated economic growth. Worth mentioning is the fight against corruption. The last three years of Buhari administration has made life hard for corrupt individuals in the country.  A second term will help to sustain and guarantee the continuity of these programs and policies.
