Wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has donated food items to widows, physically challenged persons and other less privileged women in Kogi State to cushion the effects of the economic downturn in the country.
Aisha Buhari, who was represented by Hajiya Maryam Ibrahim at the occasion, said the gesture was made possible through the First Lady’s pet project, Future Assured, whose objective is to give succour to less privileged women and youth.
She said the present administration was concerned about the wellbeing of the people and would continue to initiate more programmes that would impact positively on their lives.
The president’s wife used the occasion to thank the people of Kogi for the support they gave President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC candidates in the last general elections.
In her remarks, the wife of Kogi State governor, Mrs Rashida Bello, thanked Aisha Buhari for partnering with the Kogi Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (KOWYEF) to reach out to the less privileged in the state.
She said the change mantra of the present administration was all about touching the lives of the people and bringing hope to the down trodden, assuring that the items would be distributed to only the less privileged.
