Speaking at the annual general meeting and seminar of the  FCT chapter of the institute on Wednesday, Lasabi said that any ideal administration reforms should guarantee that the cost of land transaction is kept low and  made  accessible to all, poor or rich.
Lasabi noted that the theme of the AGM entitled “Land Administration and Physical Development in the 21st Century Urban City” is chosen because of the importance of land as a basic natural resource which supports all human activities.
“Land supports all human activities and it is from it that all other economic resources are derived. It can hardly be renewed or increased without adverse consequence therefore must be judicious and efficiently managed in a sustainable manner for the use and good of all. It is for this reason that different countries the world over have evolved land tenure systems to protect various interest in land acquisition and control and for effective land governance and management,” said the NIOB president.
Also speaking, the chairman of FCT chapter of Nigerian Institute of Building Bldr. Sadiku Sarki said that the country`s usage of manual labour, archaic machines, low quality materials due to the death of testing laboratories have led to substandard building delivery.
He called for the timely passage of the National Building Code, which he described as a ‘holy book’ that will help bring sanity to the construction industry.
