In his inaugural address, shortly after he was installed as the 18th president of NIOB, Lasabi wondered why Nigerian government continues to treat such a national malady with levity, even as he frowned at the way professionals in the industry are left un-engaged.
“It is disquieting that while government contributes immensely in professional education, the same government seems to be stalling the progress of the professionals by not engaging them; also stalling the  progress of the country by not harnessing the potentials of its professionals.
“Professionals are not given their pride of place while professional bodies have merely become generators of training and ideas that are never utilized.
“I will like to use this occasion to canvass for a reform of Nigerian’s major professional sectors as a much needed vehicle for genuine national transformation,” said the NIOB President.
He called for the active participations of builders in transforming the built industry in the country.
 “We must as builders take a lead in marshalling out strategies of engagement with stakeholders to stamp out building collapse menace in Nigeria.
“The federal government has in its wisdom inaugurated seven councils of regulatory bodies whose objectives and duties are to regulate the design, strength, cost and construction of a building before it matures into an edifice.
“I believe that the time has come for builders to be appropriately recognized as the experts in Production Management as envisaged by the National Building Code, which promulgation is long overdue,” he stressed.
