Air Vice Marshal Isyaku Bukar has taken over the mantle of leadership as the 23rd Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna.

He took over from Air Vice Marshal Musibahu Soladoye following his retirement from the Service.

Speaking at the Handing and Taking over ceremony in Kaduna, the outgoing commandant said, “The institute has achieved various milestones since I took over as commandant on 7th August, 2015, notable among them is the passage of the AFIT enactment bill by the National Assembly and the registration of over 65 engineering officers with Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigerian (COREN).”

He thanked personnel of the institute for the assistance they gave him when he was commandant and implored  them to extend the same gesture to the incoming commandant.

In his own remarks, the incoming commandant said, “A training institution cannot be static, it has to be dynamic, we have to keep pace with all the challenges bedeviling the country because training institutions are what maintain and provide the personnel that carry out all the duties within the Service. The best we can do is to add value to whatever we meet so that those that will come after us do the same.”

He urged personnel to be open with their ideas and come to him for guidance whenever the need arises.

AVM Isyaku Bukar is a graduate of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria was the Director Air Engineering, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force before his recent appointment as the Commandant, AFIT.
