Lobi Stars of Makurdi has accused Sunshine Stars of attempting to influence the match officialsinitially appointed to officiate their rescheduled league match last Thursday at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi.

Speaking to Trustsports yesterday, Chukwuma said any allegation bordering on match fixing is a serious matter and must not be handled with kid gloves.

He, therefore called on the NPL to immediately launch a serious investigation into the matter and the appropriate sanctions must be meted out to the guilty parties before the league is damaged.

Chukwuma said he condemns such acts in totality and would never support anyone who indulges in them.

His words: “I heard about the match fixing allegation but cannot say for sure if Iorfa has petitioned NPL to investigate it. If he has, then I will urge NPL to carry out a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to book.

“I condemn match fixing and if it is true that such thing happened, Sunshine Stars should be relegated automatically. If this is not curtailed now, it will surely destroy what is left of the league”.

Chukwuma in addition said, if found guilty, the match officials should be banned from handling matches in the Nigerian league.
