In realistic terms, the quoted amount could have been channelled to provide few job opportunities for the army of the unemployed youths who are not only a security risk to Stella but to the nation at large. Indeed, Stella has not been having it easy these days as comments, cartoons, editorials on her alleged financial recklessness in the print media have become the order of the day.

In fact, these media outfits have deployed the weapon of the mighty pen to expose the handiwork of the prophets of self aggrandizement. This economic sabotage further testifies to the fact that resource plundering in Nigeria is greatly alarming in all its ramifications. If the minister really loves herself and is a patriotic zealot, she should have saved her neck by resigning so as to put an end to threats to her life instead of resorting to financial prodigality.
Her super extravagance is a reminder that Nigeria is paradoxically a rich but poor country. Much of what has been written about her and the armoured cars may be true.. Nevertheless, the other side of the tragedy is the decadent system that tolerates large-scale financial misappropriation by top government functionaries. If we are to ponder over the escalating imbalanced justice as in the case of a severe penalty given to the Nigerian who stole a governor’s handset and the funny judgement passed on another Nigerian who stole billions of naira belonging to pensioners, one can only cry for Nigeria.
The singer Peter Tosh was right that everyone is crying out for peace but no one is crying out for justice. It is disheartening that those Nigerians who steal or misappropriate public treasury are allowed to go scot free, courtesy of the decadent system. More disappointedly, the financial and economic saboteurs are even accorded heroic reception. Only recently in China, a minister was sentenced to death for corrupt practices.  As long as the faulty system continues to cuddle crooks, the massive looting, financial misappropriation will persist.
