Nigeria’s representatives in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup, Kano Pillars yesterday left for Dakar where they are scheduled to face Jaraaf FC in the first leg of their preliminary round fixtures.

The delegation of 20 players, technical crew, backroom staff and some management members travelled to Dakar from the Aminu Kano International Airport Kano on Thursday.

Before they departed, Kano Pillars were hosted to dinner on Wednesday where they were paid their outstanding nine months match bonuses and allowances.

The Media Officer of the club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa said the gesture was meant to boost the morale of the players ahead of Saturday’s match.

“The players are in high spirit. The club has paid all outstanding match bonuses amounting to about N7m.

“They are ready to deliver and make Nigeria proud. All the 20 players are physically fit and will be led on the field by the legendary Rabiu Ali,” he said.

Pillars attacking midfielder Kenneth Kumbur Amia is also optimistic of a good result in Dakar.

“We have trained hard for this match. A good result in Dakar will make the return leg less difficult for us.

“We are motivated going into the match so we shall do everything to get a decent result against Jaraaf FC,” he said.
