Bura-Bari Nwilo makes 2016 Writivism Prize long list

A Nigerian, Bura-Bari Nwilo, has made the long list of the 2016 Writivism Short Story Prize for his story, ‘Like Eyes Liquid with Hope’.
The list includes 20 names across the Africa, which, among others, is Acan Innocent Immaculate for ‘Sun Down’, Doreen Anyango for ‘Levels’, Praise Nabimanya for ‘Free Fall’.
For the first time, there are stories originally written in French, such as Laure Gnagbé Blédou’s ‘Jene suis pas rentree’, Mathyas Kouadio’s ‘La Voie De Son Coeur’, and Le K-Yann’s ‘Poison D’avril’.
This year’s list is the longest and received a record of over 500 entries from 20 African countries. To enable the selection of the short list, the stories are currently being translated to French and to English.
This year’s judges for the Writivism Prize are Tsitsi Dangarembga, Sumayya Lee, Richard Ali A Mutu, Okwiri Oduor and Mamadou Diallo.
In 2015, a Nigerian, Pemi Aguda was winner of the prize for her short story ‘Caterer Caterer’.
