The scene of the accident

A commercial bus driver yesterday died in a road crash involving two vehicles at Oniworo, along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

Eko Trust learnt that the driver of the Mazda bus, marked AKD 417 XJ, was heading to Lagos from Ibadan when he rammed into a stationary truck registration number LSR 198 XY.

The spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirming the incident, said the accident occurred on Tuesday at about 6.20am.

Akinbiyi blamed the accident on over-speeding on the part of the bus driver.

“The commercial bus driver was the only one in the bus when the accident happened. He was on top speed when he rammed into the stationary truck, due to poor visibility,” he said.
