Businessman arraigned over alleged misappropriation

The police on Tuesday arraigned one Nurudeen Abdullazeez in a Kubwa Grade1 Area Court in Abuja for alleged misappropriation of N85 000.

The defendant was charged with criminal breach of trust, misappropriation and cheating.

The Prosecutor, Mr John Okpa, told the court that the defendant acted in a fraudulent manner and deceived one Auta Galadima into delivering two cows to him.

He said the cows cost N470, 000, adding that the defendant was to sell and remit the money to Galadima within one week but that instead he sold the cows and diverted N85, 000 to his use.

Okpa said the offence contravened Sections 312, 309 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Judge, Mr Ibrahim Balarabe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N150, 000 with one surety who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Balarabe adjourned the matter until June 26 for hearing. (NAN)
