A 40-year-old butcher, Bashiru Gboyega, was docked in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Monday for allegedly defrauding a merchant of five cows worth N3.7million.
The police charged the butcher with fraud and theft. The prosecutor,OlapejuDurodola, told the court that the defendant on December 22, 2024, at about 3: 30pm at Kara market, collected five cows worth N3. 7million from one Tijani Jamare under the pretence of selling the cows on his behalf.
She alleged that the defendant sold the cows but failed to remit the money to Jamare.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi , admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N750, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned till August 7, for hearing. (NAN)
