The Chairman of Bwari Area Council of the FCT Hon Joshua Ishaku Musa has cleared ten months workers’ arrears of the council with a total of N148, 851, 749:30.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the council chairman, Aliyu Abubakar, said the amount was cleared within three weeks of the chairman’s assumption of office.

He revealed that the latest batch covers the months of November 2023 to March 2024, adding that the chairman’s desire to clear the backlogs of the council workers’ arrears was to enhance industrial harmony between the workers and the area council.

He said the council chairman, shortly after his assumption, had a parley with staff of the council and promised to pay the backlogs of the arrears.

“Recall that the council Chairman had earlier cleared five months of the arrears owed to civil servants. And with this latest payment, the administration has now cleared a total of 10 months’ arrears in less than three weeks,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the payment of the backlogs of the arrears was a clear demonstration of the present administration’s commitment to prioritise the welfare of workers and the well-being of the people of Bwari Area Council, especially the hardworking civil servants who keep the council running.

The chairman, therefore, urged residents of the council to continue to support his administration to take the council to the promised land.
