Residents of Bwari in the Federal Capital Territory are urging the police to intensify night patrols to curb the rising incidents of housebreaking in the town.

Residents report a significant increase in housebreaking and theft, particularly during the night, across many communities within Bwari. They recalled a recent tragic incident where a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel was fatally stabbed by a suspected thief in the Piawe area of the town.

Isah Ismaila, a resident of the Sabo-gari area, specifically appealed to the police to bolster security in the Sabo-gari area, extending to Tudun-Fulani and Piawe. 

“Night attacks are becoming regular in the Sabon-gari, Tudun-Fulani down to Piawe areas of Bwari, and nothing is being done. The police should please beef up security in the area,” he pleaded.

Another resident, Mr. Seyi Olofin, urged the police to continue their efforts in curbing crime within the communities. 

She commended security operatives for addressing kidnapping cases in the area.

Abuja Metro reports that the NSCDC officer was allegedly stabbed to death last Tuesday around 5:45 am in the Piawe area of Bwari, while she was with her child. 

The area is close to Sabo-gari and Tudun-Fulani.
