Bwari: Tribunal’s judgement a ploy to shortchange electorate – PDP chair

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the FCT, Sunday Zaka, has said that the nullification of the election of the Chairman of Bwari Area Council, John Gabaya, by the election tribunal is a ploy to shortchange the electorate.

City & Crime had reported that the tribunal sitting at Wise Zone 2 and led by Magistrate Muinat Olashade Oyekan, on Tuesday, nullified the election of Gabaya as Chairman of Bwari and declared APC’s Shekwolo Haruna Audi as winner of the February 12, 2022, council election.

Zaka, while reacting to the judgement in an interview with our reporter at the state PDP secretariat on Thursday, said the party received the news of the nullification with great shock.

He said people of Bwari, AMAC and Kuje area councils came out to vote massively for the PDP only for their will to be shortchanged.

He called on party supporters and members across the 62 political wards of the FCT to remain calm and keep faith with the party.

Recall that the tribunal three weeks ago nullified the election of the Chairman of AMAC, Christopher Maikalangu, of the PDP and declared APC’s Usman Murtala Karshi as winner.
