Youths under the aegis of the Non-indigene Youth Forum in Bwari have protested against what they described as continued high billing and disconnection of their members by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

In a reply to the letter by the Manager of the AEDC, the forum which comprises residents of Jigo, Peyi and Pwambara communities in the Bwari Area Council, decided not to cooperate any further with AEDC unless they are properly metered.

The letter was jointly signed by the group’s President, Peter Orem; Secretary, Eleh Bob-Kevin. 

The forum complained that the AEDC disconnected them after they have paid their bill in disguise that they did not pay enough, adding that they are being over billed by 600 per cent.

In a letter to the communities dated May 26, 2017, the Area Manager of the AEDC, Abdulwahab Salam and the Service Centre Manager, Onwukaike Blessing alleged illegal reconnection by members of the communities through hanging their cables by night or burying them.

“We humbly request that you use your honourable office to call your subjects to order as these actions could lead to accident and loss of life. They should help us desist from those illegal and dangerous actions as we are ever ready to continue to serve them better,” the letter stated.
