The Corporate Affairs Commission says it is working to increase payment platforms asides Remita to ensure seamless transactions from its newly unveiled AI powered platforms
The CAC management made this known on Sunday in reaction to complaints by Nigerians on transaction glitches and other registration hindrances encountered on the AI platform.
The CAC also blamed the inability of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) whose portal has been down for over a month now to be able to synchronize NIN for company registration and other transactions.
On 30 June, the commission announced the introduction of a new Artificial Intelligence AI-powered registration portal. At the time, Hussaini Magaji, registrar-general/chief executive officer of CAC, said the portal represents a complete overhaul of the commission’s existing Company Registration Portal (CRP).
Despite the commission’s promise to streamline the business registration process, there have been recent complaints saying the portal has made it difficult for businesses to be registered seamlessly.
The commission in its response acknowledged that although the Registrar General of the Commission, Husseini Magaji promised Prompt Reservation and Instant registration with just National Identity Number, (NIN) of Directors and within shortest possible time, it is subject to viability of other Stakeholders in Registration.
Speaking on the challenges, it added that “NIMC portal is nowhere to be found for more than a month for us to even Pull data there for verification or validate information supplied to us. CAC made its way and handled such matters through another technology solution.”
It added, “Another hindrance to our operation is Payment, that is REMITA which is why CAC request is before the government to enable us to add an additional window for collection of Government revenue, in the event REMITA is not responding well like what we are experiencing currently.”
