The Registrar General (RG) of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Hussaini Magaji, has said that the commission has uncovered 189 fake companies used by a cartel of criminals to acquire landed property in the FCT.

The RG who stated this yesterday during a press conference at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja said arrests had been made and investigation was ongoing.

Magaji said: “One of the milestone achievements for me in the last week since assumption of office is that we have been able to bust a cartel of criminals causing havoc to the commission and the country at large.

“These criminals create fake entities and companies; about 189 fake companies, which we have uncovered who connived with staff of the Abuja Information Geographic System (AGIS) to secure land allocations in the FCT.  They maneuver their way to have priority applications over existing applications in order to take over lands. They succeeded over the years until yesterday when we effected arrests and the law enforcement agencies are already carrying out investigation.”
