As part of its enhancement programme on the commercialisation of agriculture, the World Bank-assisted Commercial Agriculture Development Project (CADP), in conjunction with Sasakawa Africa Association, has trained 250 small and medium commercial farmers in Kano State.

Speaking during the two-day training programme, the state project coordinator of the CADP, Alhaji Salisu Kaila Jogana said the project was also expected to positively impact on 10,000 commercial farmers, including women and youths. According to him, the training was aimed at further building the capacity of rice and maize producers in order to achieve better results.

Jogana said the project was aimed at strengthening agricultural production systems and facilitate access to market for rice, maize and dairy value chains among small and medium scale commercial farmers in the state.

He explained that the CADP partnered Sasakawa Africa Association because of its vast experience and expertise on agricultural extension and support services.
