A retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Ambrose Aisabor, has described the call for an Interim National Government (ING) in some quarters as uncalled for and not in the interest of the country.
Aisabor said, “The call for ING is uncalled for, and it may be due to frustration by a section of the political class due to alleged failure of the political process.”
He noted that there was no need to call for an interim government by the political class since the parties had approached the court for justice.
He said, “Since the issue of the general elections is now with the judiciary, it will only be proper to allow the judiciary to handle all the cases connected with the elections. Any comment now on the election will be subjudice. My appeal to the judiciary is that they should dispense justice without fear or favour.”
He, therefore, charged the judiciary not to resort to technicalities in the dispensation of justice in election matters as Nigeria needed peace and harmony and not anarchy.
