At the unveiling of the new digital products in Lagos on Wednesday, the Sales and Marketing Director, Canon Central and North Africa (CCNA), Somesh Adukia said Nigeria is number three on the list of its 97 focused countries in Africa.
He said Nigeria remains an important market for the company, saying, “We will play a longer game with Nigeria.”
According to him, the company believes in investing in Nigeria during recession because the present economic challenges would soon be a thing of the past.
As part of its commitment to the local market, the company has set up its Nigerian office headed by a country manager and five channel account managers to enhance access to its end users. The office is also to oversee the Ghana operations.
Adukia said company is targeting film makers with the new products as well as professional photographers.
He said: “This year, our major target is to stand our presence in the film industry. As pioneers of imaging, we want to grow and develop the market of DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera in Nigeria”.
“Nigeria, as a country with over 170m population that is still growing, is a huge market for us. Though there are economic issues owing to the fall in price of crude oil but we believe the country will come out of this crisis very soon. We don’t want to come and invest here when the crisis is over”, he said.
