So-called Islamic State (IS) says it carried out a car bomb attack that killed at least 17 people in the predominantly Shia town of Khalis in Iraqi.
The explosion, about 80km north-east of the capital, Baghdad, was “very strong” an official told a private TV station.
Hospital sources said the death toll was expected to rise, Reuters reports.
The blast comes a day after IS said it was behind a suicide bomb attack on a security checkpoint in Baghdad.
