A Golf 4 saloon car on Friday ran into a shop at No. 40, Oluwole Olaniyan Street, Iyana- Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos, destroying properties worth millions of naira in the process.
The vehicle with registration number Lagos GGE 632 DA was also badly damaged in the incident which occurred at about 11:30p.m.
According to an eye witness, Towolawi Abiodun, the driver was on high speed when the vehicle ran into the shop. He added that on seeing the magnitude of the damage done by the vehicle, the driver quickly disembarked from the car and fled the scene.
"He did this for fear of being lynched by the residents of the area," Abiodun stated. However, no life was lost in the incident, neither was there any physical injury to any person as the shops in the area were locked at the time due to the yuletide.
