Car washer remanded for selling customer’s car

A Kano State magistrates’ court sitting in Gyadi-Gyadi has ordered the remand of a car wash operator, Sulaiman Abubakar Tsafe, for allegedly stealing and selling a car belonging to his customer who brought it for him to wash.

The defendant was arraigned before the court presided over by Magistrate Halima Aliyu Nasir by the police on three count charges bordering on breach of trust, stealing and destruction of wealth.

The owner of the vehicle, Nura Rabi’u, was said to have taken his car to Tsafe to wash and Tsafe ran away with the car and sold it.

Presenting his case, counsel to the state government, Barr Jamilu Abubakar, told the court that the case was new and that the court should read the charges to the accused.

The court then ordered the prosecution counsel, Ramlat Tanimu, to read the charges against the defendant, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Judge, Halima Aliyu Nasir, ordered the remand of the defendant in a correctional facility and adjourned the case to April 18, 2023.
