The Administrative Manager of Skills Outside School Foundation, Victor Ogbonnaya, said career mentoring has significant effects on students’ academic performance. He said many students were being forced to pursue courses they were not interested in and that students that were not properly counseled would not be able to choose a career of their interest.
 He said those who attended good career counseling exercise have shown significant academic improvement. 
He said most parents choose careers without considering the interest of their children.
