A 47-year-old carpenter, David John, has appeared before a Kubwa area court for cheating his customer, Agunloye Wemimo, of N160,000.

The police charged John, who resides at Jiwa, Gwagwa, Abuja, with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecutor, John Okpa, told the court that the suspect sometime in 2020 deceived the complainant into delivering N160,000 to him to construct 20 chairs and tables for her school in Kubwa but that he converted the money to his personal use. The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The judge, Muhammed Adamu Wakili, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N150,000 with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case to May 4.
