Two people, Babatunde Oluwasola, a 56-year-old carpenter; and Fowowe Dada, a 47-year-old female trader, have been nabbed by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State for allegedly recruiting three girls from Akure and sending them to Libya.

The spokesman of NSCDC in Ondo State, Daniel Aidamenbor, who disclosed this in a statement issued to reporters on Monday, explained that the girls were recruited around April, 2023, by Oluwasola, popularly known as Osanle, through the assistance of Fowoye, better known as Iya Alaso

The statement reads in part: “The victims who travelled through the desert to Libya called Mr Babatunde through the agent that received them two weeks after they departed from Akure to inform him of their arrival in Libya.

“One of the victims, a 15-year-old girl, until her departure, lived with her parents in Akure. She left without telling anyone about her journey.

“It’s upon her arrival in Libya where she discovered that the situation she got wasn’t what she bargained for, hence she had to reach out to her father who had been looking for her for help and the father in return reported the case to NSCDC, Ondo State Command.”

He added that the suspects had made confessional statements and would be transferred to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP).
