The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has called on Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel not to see civilians as enemies, stressing that civilians are the ones who need their protection.
The CAS gave the advice to 1,296 NAF personnel during their passing out parade for the Basic Military Training Course 45/2024 in Kaduna. He noted that the ceremony marked the formal transition of the recruits from civilians into trained personnel of the Armed Forces.
“You must respect the constitution, remain apolitical, submit to constituted authority, and conduct yourselves responsibly at all times,” he said. The CAS reminded the graduates that the uniform represents trust and that operational success is incomplete if public trust is lost.
He urged them to remain committed to continuous learning, especially as many of the tools they will operate are highly sophisticated. He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his continued support of the service.
