The Federation of Benue State Akpu Dealers, Transporters, Potters, Multipurpose Cooperatives Union Limited has said cassava can rake huge revenue if government gives needed attention to the crop.

President of the union, Comrade Soso Ihyev, made the remark when he led members of the union on a visit to Governor Samuel Ortom at the Government House in Makurdi.

Ihyev noted  the  increase in the cultivation of cassava in the state, which he attributed to the ban on open grazing imposed by the government.

He added that cassava has an all year round market and could rake in huge revenue for government if given the desired attention while pledging the support of members for the reelection of Ortom in 2019.

Responding, the governor urged Benue people to embark on massive cultivation of cassava so as to cash in from its multiple benefits.

He charged the dealers to form viable cooperatives that could enable them access loans for the establishment of factories for the processing of cassava.

The governor commended the zeal and determination of the Akpu dealers as he stressed that his administration would give them the necessary support to achieve maximum result.
