Tragedy struck on Monday when a caterpillar motor grader crushed a nursing mother and her child in Ute, a community in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident occurred when the grader’s driver lost control while working on a rural road rehabilitation project sponsored by the council chairman, Hon. Clement Kolapo Ojo.

Daily Trust learned that the woman was riding on a motorcycle with her child en route to their farm when the accident happened.

A resident who witnessed the incident blamed the driver for negligence and said police evacuated the bodies.

Confirming the incident, Ose LGA Chairman, Mr Ojo, expressed sorrow and extended condolences to the grieving family.

He added that Ose local government officials visited the scene to assess the situation and consoled the family.

While mourning the victims, he assured the public that a full investigation into the cause of the incident had commenced.
