The Caritas Nigeria on Friday in Abuja donated food and other relief materials to the needy and two orphanages in Abuja as part of activities marking this year’s World Day of the Poor in the country.
Speaking during the donations, the Program Manager, Good Governance Unit, Caritas Nigeria, and Desk Head of COVID-19 intervention, Mark Asu-Obi, said that the organisation as part of activities marking the World Day of the poor, lined up series of activities to show love to the poor and the vulnerable.

“We are visiting the custodian centres and orphanage homes, showing love and giving some food stuff to the Human Rights Radio for distribution to the poor,” Asu-Obi said.
He also urged the wealthy in the society to show love and support to the needy in the society to reduce poverty and engender National Development.
Speaking on behalf of the management of the City of Refuge Orphanage, Durumi 1, Abuja, the Matron of the house, Mrs. Victoria Edwin, expressed appreciation to Caritas Nigeria for the gesture.
According to her, it was not easy for people to share part of their wealth with others, except by the Grace of God.
The Caritas Nigeria also distributed food and other materials to the Abuja Orphanage Home, in Karu FCT.
Daily Trust reports that The Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN), an organ of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), annually commiserate the International Day by visiting the vulnerable and donating money, food, and other items for the upliftment of the poor in the society.
