Dr Felix Adesiyan, the Diocesan Agricultural Development Programme Coordinator, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ijebu-Ode on Wednesday.

Adesiyan explained that 80 small-scale farmers who had registered with the commission for financial assistance benefitted from the loan.

He said that the loan was part of the commission’s agricultural policy to assist farmers to increase their food production.

He explained that the loan must be repaid within three months of its disbursement, adding that farmers could collect as many times as they wanted, once they repaid at the appropriate time.

Adesiyan added that the commission also trained more than 60 livestock farmers on modern farm techniques during the period under review.

“Apart from the disbursement of agriculture loan to farmers, the commission also trained farmers on the use of organic manure, advocacy policy and linkages on profit making.

“This training is our own way of assisting farmers on how to increase food production.”

He further explained that the commission had more than 500 registered farmers on its agriculture

programme.

The coordinator added that the commission also linked farmers with financial institutions to access long-term loan. (NAN)
