Rev. Fr. Lawrence Soja-Anyembugu has urged youths and other Nigerians to continue to remain peaceful and law-abiding for development to thrive.

Soja-Anyembugu, the parish priest in charge of St. John Catholic Church, Awe, Nasarawa State, made the call shortly after receiving an award of excellence from the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Akun chapter.

The award was titled ‘Most Outstanding and Philanthropist Man of God in the Year, 2021’.

He said peace was a necessary requirement for the development of any nation, hence the need for the youths to embrace it at all times.

The cleric appreciated the youths for the award and promised to continue to assist them and other people towards changing their lives positively.

“I want to appreciate you for this award as I have received many awards.

“This award will spur me to do more toward bettering the standard of living of the widows, orphans and other less privileged ones.

“I want to urge you and other youths to embrace education, skills acquisition programmes as well as remain peaceful and law-abiding for the overall development of the society,” he said.

Soja-Anyembugu also urged the youths and other Nigerians to live a life worthy of emulation to inherit the kingdom of God and for societal development.

He urged them and other people of the state to support the state government’s policies and programmes to succeed.

Mr Abdullahi Abimiku, the Chairman of the youth council, said the award was given for his contributions to the development of the youths and the society at large.

“This award is based on your contributions to the growth of the Catholic church, the youths and the society at large,” he said.

Abimiku urged him not to relent in his efforts toward touching the lives of the people positively.

The priest has sponsored the weddings of 146 couples from 2018 to date, among other philanthropic gestures. (NAN)
